Vision Plans

One of the best values in an employee benefits package is a vision insurance plan. Vision insurance coverage typically covers expenses such as examinations, lenses, frames and contact lenses. Whether your package offers discounted services, or a dollar benefit for hardware and exams, vision insurance is a low-cost benefit that almost all employees need.

An optometrist is somebody who is qualified to carry out eye examinations and to prescribe and supply glasses and contact lenses. They do not treat diseases of the eye or perform Lasik surgery or other types of eye treatments. However, an optometrist can refer patients seeking eye treatment or surgery to an ophthalmologist. If you believe you have concerns that may be related medically to your eyes, your optometrist is a good resource for vision-related medical advice.

An ophthalmologist is a physician qualified to diagnose and treat eye diseases and conditions with drugs, surgery and other corrective measures. Services performed by an ophthalmologist are typically covered by medical insurance, whereas optometrists’ exams and hardware are covered by the vision insurance.

After we review each vision plan in detail we create an outlined description of the benefits and costs of each plan, so that you may choose between the available options for your employees. Information regarding claim–processing procedures and carrier information is printed in each custom employee benefit packet for your convenience.
